Full job description
· Position Responsibilities:
o Perform all duties and responsibilities set forth in the Chamber’s Bylaws, as amended from time to time, the Executive Director’s employment agreement and as directed the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.
o Work directly with the Chair of the Board, Executive Committee and Board of Directors by maintaining and promoting the vision and mission of the Chamber to achieve the goals and objectives of the Strategic Plan.
o Develop a clear communication plan to streamline communications with Members, the Board, staff, and the Lake Nona Community.
o Work with the Chair of the Board to ensure effective and efficient Board committee structure and operation, communicating regularly with the Board of Directors and committee leaders.
o Facilitate the planning and materials for all Chamber of Commerce meetings and events.
o Work with Chair of the Board to maintain and enhance Board Relations.
o Serve as the “face” of the Chamber, actively participating in community related events, networking with the general public and potential members.
o Anticipate the political, social, and economic issues that may affect the Lake Nona business community while recommending appropriate action, as may be necessary to government agencies, the Chamber Board, strategic partners and the public.
o Implement the new Board-approved Strategic Plan as it relates to the Chamber operating budget and fundraising activities.
o Work with the Membership Personnel in the collection of member dues, event sponsorships and publication advertising.
o Maintain fiscal responsibility for both the short term and annual budget, and report to the Board monthly.
o Provide leadership in developing organizational and financial plans with the Board and staff, and manage plans and policies as authorized by the Board.
o Maintain a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the Lake Nona business community, not for profit organizations along with economic and political changes that affect the business community.
o Oversee, update and make recommendations to current programs of the Chamber and work with staff to develop new programs to achieve objectives of the Chamber’s new Strategic Plan.
o Identify and cultivate partner organizations locally, regionally, and nationally for mutual program benefit.
o Management of Chamber staff to include hiring and termination of employees through an annual employee performance review process.
· Desired Qualifications:
o A minimum of 5 years experience as a Senior Manager of a nonprofit organization, Chamber of Commerce and/or an association.
o Exceptional public speaking, verbal, and written communication skills (for Chamber events and community gatherings).
o Working knowledge of “Growth Zone” or equivalent membership management software.
o A BS/BA Degree in appropriate area (Business Management, Nonprofit Management or equivalent).
o Strategic Planning implementation successes working with Stakeholders, Board and Membership.
o Successful experiences developing and maintaining organizational partnerships.
o Knowledge of the Lake Nona, FL community.
